The “Trash to Treasure” project is due on Friday.  The most important things to remember is that the finished product should be made with at least 2 DIFFERENT TYPES of trash.  The student also has to have a plan to go along with their project that should include the following:  a diagram/picture of the project, a description of what it is and what its purpose is, and a list of the materials used.  The plan must be nice and neat.  It may be typed as well, but does not have to be.  The students should strive to make all 4’s on the rubric that I provided last week.

This week we will be working out of Chapter 4.  This chapter tells us the “bad news” concerning planet Earth and all the pollution that is on it.  We are learning about the types of pollution:  heat, solid waste, chemicals, noise, and nuclear waste.  In the second half of the chapter, it teaches us about ways to help the Earth.  One way of course, is through this project that the students are working on this week.  I will be encouraging the students to look for ways that they can implement the “3 R’s” at home.  They are to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.  Please help them think of ways as well, and support them in what they try to accomplish.
